UCU Scholarship Program
Thank you for your interest in UCU's scholarship program. The entry period for 2018 scholarships has ended.
UCU is pleased to announce the third year of its Scholarship Program. In 2018, UCU will award eight scholarships to students furthering their education as first year students in fall 2018 semester at the seven University of Maine System campuses and Maine Maritime Academy.
The Scholarships will be awarded as follows:
- University of Maine - $1,000
- University of Maine at Augusta - $1,000
- University of Maine at Farmington - $1,000
- University of Maine at Fort Kent - $1,000
- University of Maine at Machias - $1,000
- University of Maine at Presque Isle - $1,000
- University of Southern Maine - $1,000
- Maine Maritime Academy - $1,000
Applicant must be a UCU member with account in good standing prior to application deadline of May 1, 2018. Primary account ownership is required and joint ownership on an account does not meet qualifications for application.
Applicant must be entering their first year of at one of the eight schools listed above beginning in fall 2018 semester. Individual applicants can submit one application per calendar year. If a change is made to which school the applicant is attending, notify UCU by May 1, 2018 and UCU can move the application to the correct school drawing within the scholarship program. Individuals will be awarded scholarship only when they are attending the school their name is awarded for. Scholarship awards are non-transferable between campuses, schools or individuals.
Applications must be fully completed to be considered eligible for the scholarship.
The scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the school upon verification of enrollment and distributed equally between the first and second semesters. Awardees must be enrolled and attending college both semesters to receive both disbursements of full award amount. Awardees will be notified by phone and email. UCU employees and their immediate family are not eligible.
Complete applications must be submitted online and received through UCU’s website no later than Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Applicants must also become members of UCU by May 1, 2018. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Criteria for Selection
All applications will be sent to the Scholarship Committee after the application deadline. The committee will review all submissions for eligibility and requirements to determine entry into the drawing. Scholarship awardees will be randomly drawn from the pool of approved eligible applications for each of the eight awards. (Transcript is not required for this scholarship application). Scholarship awardees will be notified by May 18, 2018. Awardees will be asked to submit a photo for publication in our membership newsletter. UCU reserves the right to discontinue this scholarship program anytime without notice. UCU reserves the right not to award any scholarships should there be no qualified applicants.
