Debit Card Fraud Text eAlerts

UCU offers text alerts for suspicious transactions on debit card purchases. This service allows members to easily notify UCU to whether a transaction was fraudulent via text message.

Enrollment Processdebit card fraud text alert enrollment

Members will receive a text message for enrollment in the program. Once this message is received, please reply YES to opt-in.

Example message: "University CU Debit Card Fraud Alerts activation text. Reply YES to confirm your enrollment, HELP for help, STOP to cancel texting."

Once enrolled, a confirmation text will be sent in response.

What Happens Next

If there are suspicious transactions on your debit card, you will receive a text message to the enrolled number. Here are sample messages that you may receive from UCU if there are suspicious transactions on your debit card:

For example: " University CU Debit Card Fraud Alert: Did you attempt transaction on debit card ending in 1234 at Macy's in MA for $37.87? Reply Yes or No."

If reply is YES: "University CU: Thank you for your response. We'll continue to monitor your card for unusual activity."

If reply is YES and your card has been restricted: "University CU: Thank you for your response. We'll contact you when the temporary hold on your card has been removed. Sorry for any inconvenience."

If reply is NO: "University CU: You've indicated an unauthorized charge on your card ending 1234. A temporary hold may have been placed on your card. Please call immediately 1-877-253-8962."
