Target Card Compromise

University Credit Union has been made aware that credit card and debit card information may have been compromised through a recent data breach at Target. According to information posted on the Target website, this issue impacts all customers who made a purchase in any U.S. Target store between November 27 and December 15, 2013.

While this is not the result of a compromise at UCU, we are working with our card processors to identify cards that may be at risk in order to protect our members. We are proactively monitoring UCU card usage and determining at-risk accounts and taking the necessary action steps.

Please stay tuned to your account and our website during this time for more details.

If You Have Linked A Target REDCard To Your Checking Account

Although details are still developing, it appears that there may be an additional risk for individuals who linked their checking accounts to a Target REDCard. During this time, please closely monitor your checking account activity for any unauthorized transactions.

What You Should Do

As always, please monitor your accounts for suspicious activity and advise the Credit Union or other card issuers immediately if there are any transactions you do not recognize.

If you do notice unauthorized transactions or have difficulty in the use of your card, please contact a Credit Union representative at 800.696.8628.

Please know that we are working diligently to safeguard your financial security. Click here to view UCU's Online Safety Guide for more information on protecting yourself and your accounts online. Please contact us at with any questions or concerns you may have.
