Fraudulent email alert

Date: July 3rd, 2007 - Author: University Credit Union

There is a new scam going around on the internet via email with a subject of “You've received a postcard from a family member!”

Inside it there are links that make you think you are going to hallmark.com. However, the links don’t take you there; they take you to a site that tries to install harmful software on your computer. If you get an email with the title listed above, you should immediately delete it. As a side note, its always good practice to never open an email from anyone that you don’t know. If you get an email from someone that you do know, and the email is asking you to open an attachment, it never hurts to email the sender and ask them if they sent you the suspect email. If they did, then open it, if they didn’t then you may have averted a possible crisis.
