New Check Scam

There is currently a check scam circulating in which people are receiving a counterfeit check with a letter stating that they have won a promotional contest through an insurance company. The letter states that the check is a portion of the winnings and should be used to pay administration fees and taxes. It gives a telephone number to call for further instructions.

Please be cautious when receiving checks in the mail from unknown sources. If you receive a supicious check in the mail, please contact UCU before taking any action.
